Why are people always in a hurry to get on and off a plane?

I don’t understand why people start waiting in line like 20 minutes before they start boarding. There’s no point—it’s assigned seating.
Also, I don’t get why people immediately stand up after a plane has landed and parked. You have to wait anyway, so people always end up standing for about 20 minutes before they can go.

I travel a lot and it’s been my experience that people just want to rush around in general at airports… I have always been the type to wait until the cabin is clear so that I can get my bags, and check to see if I left anything in peace (I’m also that guy that helps the old lady take her bag down from the overhead bin, by the way)
as to why rush to get on? well usually the first people on the plane get their pick on the overhead compartments, and some of the amenities like pillows and blankets. Also, there is a likelihood that the people scheduled to sit next to you may not show, and therefore you get to have the window seat before anyone comes and takes it… as for why they rush off, could be the 3 coca colas and 2 ice waters made them really need to use the facilities and NOBODY wants to use the airplane bathroom if they can avoid it… also it’s just a severe lack of patience in general from people… it’s the "hurry up and wait" mentality.. rush out of the plane, and wait at baggage claim. anyway I digress.. you get the idea though lol

Haha I wonder the same thing. I don’t line up at all, I sit in my seat or wander around the airport until boarding starts.

And when it lands, I want to get out of there, but I know standing up isn’t going to help. It’s awkward to have everyone standing around me!

siting for hours makes people sore lol

People have people to meet and places to go. Over anxious.
After a long trip you want to stretch your legs. Go for a cig break. Pee in a normal toilet on the ground. hug a loved one. smack someone… any number of reasons. Why…do you like just sitting and waiting around?

some people like to get to their seat and have everything set up perfectly so they can put in head phones and just relax or whatever. and once you land, for most people, they haven’t walked around at all (or maybe to the bathroom once) and they are tired of just sitting.

Some people have connecting flights and need to get off and get processed as quickly as possible so they don’t miss their flight. Others need to use the bathroom or have people waiting for them or may be hungry or thirsty or need to take their meds with a meal. My final destination in Morocco I am always excited and want to get off the plane, grab my luggage and get out.

You will find that a lot of those folks do not fly much or else they would know that it takes 5 mins. to get the door open and for folks to start moving off the aircraft….

Seating is assigned, overhead compartment space is not. Especially nowadays when most people bring as big a bag as they could, people want to board sooner to make sure they can put their own stuff where they want to. Even though I know it will be a few minutes before the door opens, I like to get up as soon as possible, stretching the legs is one of the reasons, the other is everybody is getting out their baggage ready so when the line starts moving, most peope are already walking straight out without blocking the way. Often people have a flight to catch.

It’s proper education & information for the passengers. While mostly it is the Discipline or Character of that person & we could not blame them for that. I’ve travelled so many places for almost 15-years & still on-going, met & seen a lot of things that would make you ask those words "WHY????" then later on you will come to know & understand why they do need to do that.

A lot of these people get up even when the seat belt sign is still on. I never hurry to get up after landing because if i have overhead luggage it is too much of a hassle to get it down, so i just stay seated and relax.
I can understand why you would hurry if you had a connecting flight. I guess if you are going somewhere you have never been or are meeting people you haven’t seen in ages, you would be excited and want to hurry.
