I’m almost 18 and want to join either the Army and the Marines. What I need to know is what is the difference combat wise? I’ve heard that the Marines just go for the fighting? Does the Army see a lot of fighting? What is the difference in missions carried out? Please help, and I need good, solid answers, not "the Army are the whimps and clean up crew" or "the Marines are the bullet sponges" like some people I’ve talked to have said. I just need good, clear answers. Thanks!
What is the difference between the Army and the Marines?

Cartman that name says alot. They aren’t better trained. They are trained differently on some things but not better. Soldiers can use a large arsenal of weapons such as the 240, 249 SAW, M16/M4, M203 etc Marines are trained to a fine art with their rifles. They shoot from 500 yards and are damn good at it bc it’s drilled into them. The Army shoot at 300 yards but the course is actually more difficult because it is random pop ups that disappear and is a hell of alot more difficult than taking your time aiming at a stationary target. Soldiers run 6 miles and marines do the same. The PT test for marines has a 3 mile run while the army is a 2 mile. They CAN run more but don’t for testing purposes. The marines are traditionally trained for amphibious assault while the army is more of an occupational force. One helps get the area taken down and the other holds it. This consist of LOTS of fighting in both branches. There isn’t much difference in modern urban warfare these days. They both do the same sh*t but work for a different company. Marines have 6-7month deployments while the Army has 12 months. Oh and whoever says simps I’d like to see them try to do what I do and have their a*s over there being shot at. They have killed thousands of terrorist so that’s one hell of a clean up crew. Marines have to spearhead in some nasty areas which can get them killed. They are not bullet sponges. These are the answers from gutless 14 year olds and I’m glad you don’t pay it any mind. Marines are dept of the Navy. It all depends on the type of mission. The Army will conduct airborne operations to get into certain grounds and there are few qualified for this in the marines as it isn’t their typical mission. Marines will use naval assault vehicles for transport and some attacks. Neither is better just a little different. Now days there isn’t too much to distinguish them.
Escada nuff said? It’s a recruiting commercial. They are a small branch of service operated under the navy, proud? why the hell not, the marines? No sh*t on that one.
Are people really this f*cking stupid?
The marines are part of the navy
idk but i just know that they are different than each other
1. the marines are trained more 2. the marines are trained more for marine (water based) combat 3. the marines do not have spec ops 4. they are first in, and first out 5. the army and marines work 2gether on a lot of missions
not calling them whimps, but the army is a lot less trained, but the army does contain the most elite units. the marines, as a entire branch, are better but no replacement for the army.
why dont you just sit down with both recruiters and talk to them
The Few the Proud the Marines – Nuff Said
not much really.
They are NOT the first in and are NOT the first out (that’s why they came in behind us in Desert Storm and left to go home way before us)
Their Boot Camp isn’t the longest. My Basic was 18 weeks.
The Marines have more pride drilled into them about being a Marine, the Army supposedly has better equipment that the Marines, other than that, no real difference other than the Marines go in and do a job, the Army goes in, does the job and occupies the territory for long periods
Very Little the USMC are the Navy’s Soldiers and they are Taught how to do amphibious landings
so they should be First in But On D Day the American Army did the Same Job as not a single member of the USMC was on the Beaches of Normandy or North Africa or the Italian Landings
well i dont know if its the same for the states
but in the uk, the marines are the navys infantry and are considered as a specialist force
not to the same extent as the sas etc but still specialist
the marines are trained to use their own initiative more than the army, also the marines are usually smarter and bigger than the army
basiclly the marines are an elite fighting force and are better trained for things ohr than just fighting on a mass scale like sepc ops i think
